Programs & Special Events
Chair: Rachel Rola & Odilia Chan
This Committee is responsible for arranging suitable programs for the Association’s regular meetings including, without limitation, setting the time, place and date of such meetings.
Public Relations & Media Outreach
Chair: Raziel Arcega & Lanny Louie
The Public Relations and Media Outreach Committee communicates the mission, goals, messages, events, programs and other projects of IEABA through the media. With exposure through the media comes awareness. Awareness is an important goal of public relations-in any medium-to make people aware of what IEABA is, what it has to offer and what it does. This committee is in charge of creating awareness of the organization which is important for the development and utilization of IEABA's programs and initiatives. It is important that this committee inform the Asian American community on how their needs are met through IEABA's projects and programs. This committee is in charge of publicizing events, creating and ensuring updated press releases, creating press kits for the organization and the different events, organizing press conferences, and serve as the points-of-contact for any media inquiries. This committee will ensure that the publicity, media aspect and detail involved with every committee for every event will contribute to a successful affair.
Nominating
Chair: Grace Lee
This Committee is responsible for setting and implementing the procedures set forth hereunder for the nomination and election of Directors and Officers for the Association, and overseeing and conducting the elections herein described.
Ways & Means
Chair: Kelly Chen
This Committee shall be responsible for conducting an audit of the Association’s financial records on an annual basis and at such other times as directed by the Board.
Membership
Chair: Kathleen Acosta
This Committee shall be responsible for adding to and maintaining a current listing of the Association’s Members and for publication of a membership directory.
Bylaws
Chair: Kerry Osaki
The Bylaws are intended to be flexible and evolving document to govern the Association and to change to meet the Association’s needs. The Board shall appoint a Bylaws Committee which shall be responsible to see that the Association, Members, Directors, Officers and other comply with the Bylaws and other guidelines that may be adopted from time to time by the Board. The Bylaws Committee shall also regularly review and recommend changes to the Bylaws.
Educational Development
Chair: Jason Tani
The Educational Development Committee ensures economic impact through the projects of IEABA, through financial and business educational workshops and programs. Such projects may be sponsored through the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) program of many financial institutions or through the business programs offered through the support of education institutions or schools of business. Effective programs, resources and consulting services tailored to the needs of a small business can rely on formal and informal settings for the education on topics related and not limited to technology, workforce development leadership development.
Corporate Relations
Chair: Jason Tani
The Corporate Relations Committee works with corporations, companies and businesses to solicit monetary and in-kind donations. The Corporate Relations Committee also works with a Finance Committee to develop and secure overall corporate sponsors and grants for IEABA; create and mail Corporate Packets to companies; maintain ongoing list of past and potential supporters; work closely with other committees to secure donations for their needs; work closely with companies to develop a rapport and partnership; and actively research ways to lower the costs associated with all areas of IEABA. This committee is in charge of organizing and executing a well marketed and successful Silent Auction at the event.
Legislative
Chair: Rachel Rola
The Legislative and Government Affairs Committee examines proposed laws, regulations, rules and procedures that could affect the business community of IEABA and advises on regular and legislative matters. This committee meets at least once per month. The mission of this committee is to understand issues of interest to the Asian American businesses, to take advocacy positions on those issues, and to communicate IEABA's viewpoint clearly to the membership, elected officials and the community at large. This committee will educate members and influence elected officials with a legislative agenda focused on improving the business climate of the Asian American community. This committee will continue to work with the city, county, state and federal elected officials to advance key issues. These issues were created through solicitation of the organization's member interests and their collective knowledge. This committee with focus on 1) Promoting economic vitality; 2) Supporting Education and Workforce Development; 3) Strengthening the business community through nonprofit efforts.
